The Digitrax Command Control system is designed to let
you create your layout by connecting a variety of system components in the
configuration that best meets your needs.
The Digitrax system drastically reduces and
simplifies layout wiring; you probably won't need to rewire your existing
system.
To create a Digitrax Command Control system
you’ll need:
One Command Station
One Booster & Power
Supply
One Throttle
One or more Mobile Decoders
LocoNet
Everything you need except for the mobile decoders
and power supply is included in each Digitrax Starter Set.
The power supply is not included because most model
railroaders already have a power supply that will work.
The decoders are not included because there are so
many different decoders available and we want you to be free to choose the one
that is best for your application.
- Each system needs one Command Station that generates the DCC packets
that tell the decoders what to do. A command station can be as simple as
Digitrax DCS50 command station/booster/throttle combo or as complicated as
a computer.
- Boosters receive the DCC
signals from the Command Station, amplify them and put them on the track
as the power that runs the locos. You can have several boosters on a
system, each driving its own power district. You can have both regular
and/or auto reversing boosters on your layout. The number of locomotives
you can actually run on your layout is usually limited by the total
current output of the boosters on the layout (add up the total current
draws of all the locos you want to run at one time and be sure you install
enough boosters provide the power needed.)
- Power Supply to provide
power to run the layout.
- Throttles are input devices that
you use to tell the Command Station what you want the decoders to do. You
can have many throttles on your system. The number is determined by the
capabilities of the Command Station you are using. A DCS50 command station
can run up to 10 throttles at a time. A DB150 command station can run up
to 22 throttles at a time. A
DCS100 command station can run up to 120 throttles at one time.
- The Mobile
Decoders in the locos receive the signal from the track, decode it
and tell the loco or switch what to do.
- LocoNet is the network that
lets your Digitrax components work together to create a total layout
control system. LocoNet is not a
separate component you have to buy, it is an integral part of all Digitrax Command Control products
To expand your Digitrax Command Control system you
can also add:
· Command Stations with more capacity to expand
operations.
· Additional Boosters and Power Supplies for more power to run more
trains and/or for automatic reversing.
· Power Managers for automatic reversing
and/or short circuit management without adding a booster.
· Additional Throttles for more operators.
· Universal Panels for more plugs for
throttles and to make LocoNet wiring easy.

· Computers-PR1 for programming decoders and MS100 to interface your layout with your computer.
There are many combinations of Digitrax components that you can use to set up your layout to run the way you want it to run. You can also combine Digitrax components with DCC compatible decoders, boosters and computer software from other DCC companies.

overwhelmed by the seemingly endless combinations that are possible. First,
decide how you want your railroad to run and then decide which equipment makes
