Digitrax Repair Procedures Simple, straightforward
service, no tricky language!
Before You Send Your Digitrax Product To Be Repaired:
Many of the units we receive for repair do not need any repairs
at all. Before you send any units for repair, please take a few
minutes to review our troubleshooting pages. This will help you
avoid sending in your unit for repair when no repair is needed
and losing time using your Digitrax product.
Troubleshooting Mobile Decoder
Problems details the most common problems our customers encounter
with decoders in locomotives and tells you how to reset your decoder’s
CVs to the factory settings.
Troubleshooting Command Station/Booster
Problems details the most common problems encountered with
command stations and boosters. Some of these problems are related
to layout wiring so we recommend that you test the units on a
small piece of track not connected to the layout to determine
whether the problem you are experiencing is with the Digitrax
equipment or with the layout wiring.
Troubleshooting DS54 Stationary
Decoder Problems details the most common problems encountered
with DS54 stationary decoders. Most DS54 problems are related
to they way the decoder is programmed. We strongly recommend that
you reset all CV values to the factory default values and re-test
the DS54 before sending it in for service.
LocoNet Checker This program helps you to manage your Digitrax devices connected to the LocoNet bus and monitor their behavior. It ensures that all devices have the correct settings. Note:

your product does not work, follow the procedure outlined below.
Digitrax Repair Procedures And Information:
1. Complete a Repair Return Form for each unit your are sending
in for repair. Send a complete description of the problem you
are having. Please give as much information as possible.
2. For warranty repairs, please include a copy of your proof
of date purchased. Products must have been purchased within
the past year to qualify as warranty repairs.
3. For non-warranty repairs, please include a check to cover
the repair charges indicated in the chart below or include your
credit card number and expiration date for payment once the charges
are determined. We do not bill for repairs. If no method of payment
is included with your repair, we will return it to you UPS C.O.D.
with an added charge of $7.00 to cover the UPS fee for CODs.
4. We will attempt to repair all items sent to us. However, in
some cases, items may not be repairable. This occurs when we are
no longer able to source parts for discontinued products or when
items are damaged to the point that repairs are not possible.
If an un-repairable item is under warranty, we will send a replacement
item. If the un-repairable item is out of warranty, it will be
returned to you at no charge with no repairs made.
5. Digitrax usually completes all repairs within 10 working days
of when the item is received. Shipping times to and from our office
will vary by method and distance. Please allow 7-10 days each
way for shipping.
6. The best way to determine whether the repair was received
by Digitrax is to use your tracking number to check with UPS or
FEDEX via their web sites. Both companies track all packages and
post this information on their websites for customers. We do not recommend sending repairs valued over $50.00 via US Postal Service since tracking is not always possible.
7. Repaired items valued at less than $50.00 will be returned
to you by US Postal Service and all others are usually sent by
UPS inside the US. Repairs being returned to addresses
outside the U.S. are sent by US Postal Service.

Our
repair charges are based on labor and parts actually required
to make repairs and the cost of shipping the items back to you.
Repair prices for addresses outside the Continental US &
Canada are higher because of the cost of return shipping to those
addresses.
*Note in some cases, the street price of a decoder may be less
than the repair charge. In these cases, it may make more sense
for you to replace the decoder rather than sending it for repair.
The reason the repair charge is more than the cost of a new decoder
in some cases, is because of the time it takes to receive, process
and return the decoder to you.
**As of 11/28/2005 DT100 series, DT200 and BT2 throttles are no longer repairable due to unavailability of repair parts. DT200 was discontinued 1998, BT2 was discontinued in 1999, DT100 Series was discontinued in 11/2000.
