Transponding is proprietary technology of Digitrax Inc. Transponding works with existing DCC compatible layouts.
RailCom is proprietary technology of Lenz Elecktronik. This is sometimes referred to as "bi-directional communication." It requires modifications to existing DCC equipment for proper operation.
The two methods are not compatible, they do not use the same technology.
