PROGRAM MODE

PLACE LOCOMOTIVE TO BE PROGRAMMED ON THE PROGRAM TRACK WITH THE SYSTEM TURNED ON.

  • Push the STOP key and hold it down while pushing the FN key. Release both keys and the display should read “Ad2 = ???”. Be sure you are in “PG” mode (seen at the bottom center of the display).
  • Turn the right knob to select the address you wish to program into the locomotive. If you want a 4 digit address, push the right knob once and “Ad4” will replace “Ad2”.
  • When the number you want is in the display , i.e. “ Ad4 = 1993”, push the SEL key. If the decoder “took” the address you will see a momentary “Good” in the display. If you are programming a four digit address you will be asked a question to which you will push the Y key.
  • If you want to change other CVs you follow the same procedure as above, but use the left knob to display the CV you want and use the right knob to display the value you want.

ENGINE SELECTION

PLACE THE LOCOMOTIVE ON THE RAILROAD.

  • Turn the throttle knob you want the locomotive to be controlled from about a quarter turn to the left (this lets the controller know the want the address on that side). The smoke on the loco in the display should be flashing.
  • Push the SEL key
  • Turn the left and right knobs (left controls thousands & hundreds and the right controls tens and ones) until you get the address you want (the number should be flashing), then push SEL to set that number as the address.
  • The number you wanted should now be on the bottom of the display on below the knob you selected and it should be solid (not flashing).
  • Turn that knob clockwise and the locomotive should run.

MU MODE (CONSISTING OF ENGINES)

PLACE THE LOCOMOTIVES YOU WANT TO MU (OR “CONSIST”) ON THE TRACK RUNNING IN THE SAME PHYSICAL DIRECTION.

  • Select a locomotive you want as the “top” or “controlling” locomotive on the right knob.
  • Select the other locomotive on the left knob.
  • Push the MODE key two times and then push the +(plus) key.
  • You will then see a “cn” on the left side of the display in place of numbers. This means the two locomotives are consisted and the right locomotive is controlling both.
  • If you want to add other locomotives to the consist, place their address on the left knob just as you did before and push the MODE key two times followed by the + key. They will thus be added as the first one was.
  • To control functions of one of the “trailing” locomotives, simply select that locomotive’s address onto the left knob and push the appropriate key to do such things as turn it’s lights on/off.
To remove one of the locomotives from the consist, select it’s address to the left knob, push the MODE key two times followed by the – (minus) key.
